Just a question - does anyone know if that archery range is still there at the memorial building in Bismarck? - I wasn't sure if they closed it after the new one opened up at Riverwood.

Thanks,

Eric

Thanks - too bad though, the new range is only public access on Friday Nights and Sundays...  maybe the old range was too, but it seemed like when we went there it was usually available.  And cheap! ($2 If I remember right)

The Nishu building is open on Sunday afternoons and Monday and Friday evenings as well. $3 to shoot if your a member. May through October there isn't any scheduled public shooting hours. Just the outdoor range is open all the time.
Anybody who shoots a bow should be a member!

Is the outdoor range open to the public all the time or just members?

It's open all the time to any one wanting to shoot. Except when there are tourneys going on.

it was only $2 to shoot at the rec compared to $8 at the nishu range if your a non member and i could go to the rec and shoot seven days a week if i wanted to and i dont think every one who owns a bow should have to pay $70 to become a member  just to shoot for $3 at the nishu building shure nishu does alot of good to support archery hunting but there are alot of people out there that shoot odler low priced equipment that does what they need it to do because they live on a limited income and cant afford that extra $70 a year just to be able to shoot at the nishu building at a cheaper rate and dont shoot in the tournaments and such to take full advantage of a membership

So don't become a member than, buy a target and shoot at home. I was just trying to promote the club and building as it's a lot of fun doing leagues and tourny's and just bsing with guys that love to shoot. BTW, it's only $50 to become a member and if you want an all access key card it's a $100. If you shoot 7 days a week all year long, that's alot cheaper than $2 a time. It takes $$ to keep the building open and the targets are spendy so for a few bucks a year I'm happy to pay a little extra.

fox island  i dont have any thing agaisnt it im just saying that there is alot of shooters out there that cant afford it or just didnt want to join and i thought it was alot cheaper to shoot at the rec . i stopped at the nishu range awhile back and was talking to a gal there she told me it wasa $70 to join and i  was thinking of joining but $70 for me is alot  i need to save all year just to afford to hunt in the fall and i know of alot of others that have to to.  i would like to start shooting in some tournaments i think it would be a great time. i ment no bad intentions by what i posted i just think it would of been a great idea to keep the rec open for those who want to shoot any day of the week and are on limited income and cant afford to give $8 every time they want to shoot

If it's $70, that's news to me. I know I paid $50 for my 2010 membership.
I believe 6am to 10pm, but don't quote me on that. Might be some more info on their website.

Before Nishu built the new indoor range, it was very difficult to get any open shooting time at the Memorial Building due to archery leagues and archery lessons...and they weren't just for archery club members. the community outgrew that space. Yes, $2 was a bargain...just try and do ANY other indoor sport/recreation for that nowadays. Even darts and bowling are way more.

I'm not sure if they have a fall league, but there is one that starts in January and just ended last week. I'll be shooting that 3D league again. It's a good time, there are usually about 6 of us that shoot together and meet for a beer after. I'm gonna try a 300 league next year as well. I'd shoot the field league that starts tonight, but do to other work commitments I'd only be able to make it 2 out of the 6 weeks.
If you're interested in shooting with us next year, just let me know down the road.
